Anne Briggs - Tongue in Cheek (and others)

Anne Briggs is an English musician who created music during the folk revival of the 60's and 70's. While not widely known, she's credited with influencing major acts of the time like Led Zeppelin & Richard Thompson.

I find her music raw and lovely. From her original songs to covers of traditional folk music, there's a certain feeling in her singing that's both personal and honest. These feel less like songs sung to a crowd and more like those hummed absentmindedly while walking hills and meadows. Music both rare and beautiful.
